Shopify and Pinterest join forces for buyable pins

Categories ecommerce

In their hunt for making it easier for businesses to sell their products on Pinterest, the company has joined forces with Shopify to launch Buyable Pins. This new kind of Pin will include a “Buy it” button that lets consumers checkout and pay for products they discover on Pinterest using Apple Pay or their credit card.  Shopify has worked closely with Pinterest to make Buyable Pins as good as possible, this also means that Shopify will be the first platform that businesses can sell their products from using the Buyable Pin.

Buyable Pin

How does it work?

In order for business owners to start selling on Pinterest, they will need to add the new Pinterest sales channel to their Shopify account. The great thing is that once you have added this new channel, everything else works automatically, and Buyable Pins will be added to all of your products found on Pinterest. There’s no additional cost to list or sell products using this new Shopify channel.

Why Pinterest?

If you haven’t heard of Pinterest, chances are you are either living under a rock, or living under a rock. Even if you didn’t have internet, chances are you would have heard someone mention Pinterest. Every day millions of consumers scour Pinterest looking for new products and ideas that inspire them. Today Pinterest is the second largest source of social media traffic to online stores, and has the highest average order value of all of them.
