Janelle Monáe is an amalgamation of those artists, and The ArchAndroid is equal parts Metropolis and What’s Going On. It’s literally a concept record based around the film, with as many outside influences and guest appearances as you can imagine. Even the indie band Of Montreal is prominently featured on the track “Make The Bus”. I know, right?

Music may inspire creativity, but it should be heard through headphones. It’s really disrespectful of colleagues to impose your taste, questionable or otherwise, on others. Just as you wouldn’t drench yourself in perfume and make everyone smell it all day. So put on headphones, listen, enjoy, but don’t impose. Imposing types belong in North Korea.

Well, you would drench yourself in perfume if you worked at a go-go bar. It’s the same thing. We drench ourselves in music and strut around the office. Trying getting a waft of that and not going bananas!

Janelle Monáe is an amazing upcoming artist though. Despite the fact that expressing your taste in music may be “imposing” she’s got a unique sense of style and taste that most artists nowadays don’t have. Hopefully she can continue to make it big. For those of you who haven’t I’d definitely recommend checking out her music videos. Kinda a blast from the past

Very impressive painting! Thanks for sharing. Good point on music for productivity as well, although many times I need silence more than I need a smooth beat to keep me moving.
