This weekly column is presented by Paper Tiger, a scrappy, DIY, New York City Metro Area branding, design and development firm. The company was founded in 2008 by despondent entertainment industry veterans Marc and Jason Debiak.
There are some people who need absolute silence in order to get work done. Others, like the staff at Paper Tiger, need constant audio companionship to keep us sane/motivated. Music is the soundtrack to our creativity. It makes work possible, helps define who we are and adds just enough fuel to our day to get us over most major hurdles. Each week, thanks to our new friends at Inspired Mag, we aim to bring you a new musical suggestion, complete with a recommendation for it’s “intended use”. We hope to explore the full spectrum of musical tastes, so check back each week! Who knows, maybe your favorite track off of the soundtrack to Weird Science will be mentioned!
Artist: Bring Me The Horizon
Album: There Is a Hell Believe Me I’ve Seen It. There Is a Heaven Lets Keep It a Secret
Bring Me The Horizon is a Sheffield, Yorkshire band that are in stark contrast to the one we covered last week. Where Midlake was a laid-back folk band, Bring Me The Horizon are their exact opposite.
We first came across this band back in 2008 while a co-worker of ours was working on the design for the cover of their album Suicide Season. He spent weeks getting the eviscerated guts to look exactly right and the cover turned out great. We won’t post it here (NSFW), but you can probably imagine how we became interested in the band immediately after seeing it.
A couple of years later they came up again when one of our clients, Alternative Press announced that Bring Me The Horizon would be co-headlining their bi-annual AP Tour. Since then the album has become a staple around our office, especially when we’re looking to be REALLY productive.
Intended Use: Kicking off a new project, kicking off a late work day. After-lunch rally. Think metal, hefty bag, cookie monster, potato gun accident, driver’s ed car accident videos.
