There are some people who need constant audio companionship to keep us sane/motivated. Music is the soundtrack to our creativity. It makes work possible, helps define who we are and adds just enough fuel to our day to get us over most major hurdles. Each week, thanks to our friends at Inspired Mag, we aim to bring you a new musical suggestion, complete with a recommendation for it’s “intended use”. We hope to explore the full spectrum of musical tastes, so check back each week!

Music For Productivity: March 17th, 2010

Artist: Innerpartysystem
Album: Innerpartysystem
Genre: Synth Rock

The Paper Tiger staff has traditionally attended SXSW Music Festival every year. This year, we decided to attend SXSW Interactive for the first time and we plan to make a habit of it going forward. We weren’t expecting to see any live music so we were really surprised to stumble into The House by Purevolume and find Innerpartysystem about to take the stage. They provided exactly the right atmosphere for the moment… with a little help from the open bar, of course.

It wasn’t long until our crew of nerds (art AND tech) was right up front.

Innerpartysystem’s self-titled debut, released in 2008, feels a little like the record we wish The Faint had made after Danse Macabre. It has big, cinematic synth tracks and really good vocal hooks. It’s catchy, but not poppy. We’re REALLY looking forward to their new album on Red Bull Records… a label that, unfortunately, actually exists.

Intended Use: Really, really good for networking.
