As you may know by now, Inspired Magazine is a sucker for data visualization. That’s why we invited Tony Shin – a social media ninja and creative design samurai – to curate the weekly dose of infographics. 1. Soda’s Evil Twin

I love juice. I never drank as much soda growing up and all the carbonation hurts my stomach, so I stuck with juice. Even when I do drink soda, I’m usually drinking orange or fruit punch soda. Health Science shows us some reasons why we just might not be saving ourselves any trouble by drinking fruit drinks. The infographic highlights an interesting take – fruit drinks are more unhealthy than soda. With more sugar and calories, they may be the reason why we’re all getting a little soft in the mid-section. The horns on the soda bottle did it for me.

2. Real Food

I love food. I absolutely love eating. In fact, I usually spend the entire weekend eating a bunch of food. All weekend long. So when I saw this infographic that Column Five Media and Eco Mom put together, I was shocked and a little sad. I knew a lot of the food we ate was processed, especially all the fast food. However, I was shocked to see 70% of the everyday foods that we purchase in the supermarket contain genetically modified organisms. WHAT? So you’re telling me all that food that is labeled as healthy, fat free, no trans fat, doesn’t really mean anything? Yup. Take a look at some other shocking food statistics.

3. Free Your Feet

I love shoes. More specifically, Air Jordans. As a kid, I grew up a Seattle Supersonics fan and I hated Michael Jordan. But the one thing that always drew my attention – his shoes. Til this day, I still have a collection of over 50+ pairs of Jordan I’ve never worn. For me, having a good pair of shoes always feels good. Whether they’re Jordans, Nikes, Chukkas – you name it. So this infographic by X Ray Technician Schools drew my attention. It illustrates some interesting things about running shoes and how they may just cause a bit more harm than one would think. According to the graphic, they are just as harmful as high-heels. That’s scary. As we all try to live active and healthy lives, we exercise and eat a healthy, balanced diet. So when you see something like this – it makes you wonder. Check the graphic for more shocking facts.
