Music For Productivity: February 12th, 2011

There are some people who need constant audio companionship to keep us sane/motivated. Music is the soundtrack to our creativity. It makes work possible, helps define who we are and adds just enough fuel to our day to get us over most major hurdles. Each week, thanks to our friends at Inspired Mag, we aim to bring you a new musical suggestion, complete with a recommendation for it’s “intended use”. We hope to explore the full spectrum of musical tastes, so check back each week!

Artist: Fever Ray
Album: Fever Ray
Genre: Electronic

Two years ago my partner and I took an evening trip into sunny, nearby New York City in order to see Fever Ray. On our Paper Tiger AV imprint label we had recently released an album called North by the band Logh, and their front man was traveling as the guitar player in Fever Ray. He invited us to the show and even put us on the guest list. He failed to mention that he would be dressed as a huge bird and didn’t mention the LASER LIGHT SHOW either!

Needless to say, we were instantly smitten. The music is electronic, moody, dark, scary, and the show was totally theatrical and fascinating. Front-woman Karin Dreijer Andersson (also of the Swedish act The Knife) is an interesting character who seems to mold Fever Ray into something that’s equal parts dream and nightmare. I’ve got a picture of here somewhere here… Ok here it is.

So hot!

So our outing into NYC ended my my car being broken into and my GPS was stolen. But who cares at this point! My phone now does the same thing as my GPS anyway. Want my VCR and Walkman too, Mr. Thief?

Intended Use: Put this on early in the day and get off to a REALLY strange start. If you have employees, make them listen to this before allowing them to boot their computers. A quick Google search for Fever Ray will also yield fantastic results EVERY time, so use it to break up the monotony. We’ll get you started…

This album is great for changing your mood on a stressful day and to block out a noisy commute! I was instantly hooked and now it’s one of my most played :)
