Earth sheltered, or underground, houses lie mostly beneath the ground surface, or ground ‘climbs’ on top and covers them. The surrounding soil provides natural insulation, making these houses inexpensive to heat and cool. Clever use of site specifics or overhead skylights enable the unique breed of homes to remain well concealed and private while still exploiting the wonderful views and allowing light to enter their interior spaces.
